What Causes Prolonged Loss Of Libido And Erectile Dysfunction?

Please help. My husband has been suffering from ED for 13 years, He has a tumor on his pituitary gland. We have been to 2 Endocrinologist, 2 Urlogist & a holistic consultant also many years of marriage counciling. Nothing seems to work, maybe twice that I can remember the medication they had him on helped, but it only lasted maybe a month. We have never had a sexual relationship, not intamancy at all. He has no sexual desire what so ever. It has been a very difficult time for me, but I love my husband. He has completely given up. Last week he told me he does not love me anymore, which has completely devastated me, knowing what I have given up for him, my sexuality, my needs. He is on testosterone cream & thyroid medicine. What are the doctors missing? I don t understand why they cannot figure it out. It s almost like they don t care. What we hear from them is, well his levels look good so everything should be working, not sure why there not. Come back in 6 months. Now 13 years later my husband may want to divorce me. Please help.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your husband is having problem of hypothyroidism we need to increase the doses of thyroid hormones.
Maybe he is also suffering from depression, so better to start SSRIs. It will help him to elevate his mood. There are few more medications like tadalafil with dapoxetine, which will help him to sustain his erection.
Right now he is having hopelessness and helpness which are signs of depression. I would advice you to visit a nearby psychiatrist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
