What Causes Prolonged Delay In Periods?

Hi im 21 years old and i dont get my period i stared my period when i was 14years old and stop at 15 years old i havent get my period the past 6 years i went to the emergency hospital because i get really bad cramps and i told the doctor i dont get my period but they said i was perfectly find from my inside and everything that they dont know why i dont get my period and why cramps hurt super bad

Hello,

The term for what you have is called secondary amenorrhea. It means that you had the normal onset of your period but then no period for at least six months. The typical workup involves ruling out diabetes, thyroid disease, the elevation of a hormone called prolactin, and ovarian failure. In addition, assessment of the uterine anatomy is important, which is usually with an ultrasound. I highly recommend that you be seen by an OB/GYN to assess it further.
