What Causes Pressure In The Chest Along With Tiredness?

My husband is 68. He says that his breathing is fine but his chest/upper torso feels tight or full of something. His left arm doesn t hurt. He gets tired pretty easily. He has had his heart checked out due to his father and brother dying of heart attacks. The doctor said he has a young heart. Is there such a thing as fluid behind the lungs?

Yes, fluid may accumulate in the chest between the lungs and chest wall.

This condition is called pleural effusion. But there are plenty of other disorders that present with similar symptoms that your husband is experiencing.

Please consult with your doctor. Your husband should be initially evaluated with chest X-ray. According to the results of the X-ray, he may be ordered other tests to confirm the diagnosis.
