Possibility of steroid induced
gastritis and GERD (
gastroesophageal reflux disease) is more for his symptoms.
But better to get done ecg to rule out heart diseases as a cause.
If ecg is normal then no need to worry much.
Steroids are known to cause gastritis and GERD.
And in his case, his steroid dose has been increased. So chances of steroidal side effects like gastritis and GERD are also increased.
So give him
antacid like
pantoprazole on empty stomach. Ask him to avoid hot and spicy food.
If required, he can split the steroid dose (half in the morning and half in the evening) after discussing this with your treating doctor.
