What Causes Positive Test For Factor V Leiden In Case Of DVT?

So had a dvt start 6 months ago and have been on blood thinner since for my entire leg only. Dr did ultrasound and said the clot is basically completely gone in leg but i just tested positive for factor v leiden so he is running addtional protein tests to see if i can come off the xarelto. Is there a cancer connection to this?

Hi;

Factor V Leiden mutation is the most common cause of thrombophylia. It is a genetic disorder and generally irrelevant with cancer. It may cause your DVT; and it is manageable with correct medication. If other blood tests are negative, cancer is a distant possibility.

May you recover soon
