What Causes Pink Blotches On Legs And Back Of A Child?

My 13 year old daughter has pink blotches on her legs and back. They are not all over, just here and ther and about the size of a nickel. They are not raised, nor itchy. Just pinkish-reddish circular patches. They started appearing last fall. Cortizone creams and anti-fungal creams don t work. We have been to the dermatologist, who prescribed cream that, when applied several times a day, eventually makes them disappear after a few weeks. But this is too much maintenance. Is this a fungal infection? Would an oral medication work better? Does this relate to her incredibly smelly feet and dandruff that started appearing about the same time?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pink blotches on legs and back of your child which could be due to hormonal disturbances and allergic reaction of body. It could be due to compromised immunity of body which is making you prone to infections. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit dermatologist once and get it examined. You should go for patch test for allergic reaction. Start treatment after proper examination and diagnosis. Avoid intake of oily and fast food. You should not touch and prick them. Drink plenty of water. Till then apply topical steroid e.g fluticasone propionate cream, twice daily at affected sites for 7- 10 days. Try to identify trigger factor ,so that you can avoid it .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
