What Causes Pimple-like Bumps On Upper Back And Shoulders In A Child?

My daughter is one years old and recently over the past week develop little bitty pimple looking bumps. They re over her upper back and upper shoulders. And I believe they re in her scalp in the back. She has a lot of hair so its hard to tell.. We went to her pediatrician and she said it was only heat rash. I just don t know about that! She been waking up every night crying for about a week and a half. I just wanna second opinion before I over exaggerate things!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child has pimple like bumps on upper back and shoulders which is due to abundance of sebaceous glands in these areas, stress , sun exposure and hormonal changes. I would suggest you to wash these areas with body wash containing benzoyl peroxide , after washing face apply cream containing azelaic acid which safe for use. Apply betnovate cream on these areas as well. Maintain proper hygiene of these areas. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined. Start treatment after complete examination. Doctor may prescribed steroid and laser therapy.
