What causes persistent vomiting?

My son got hiccups during lunch and seemed to get food or water stuck in his esophagus or???. He has been coughing/ vomiting every 30 minutes for the last 4 hours. He can breathe, but feels like he has something in his chest. He is 27 years old. What should he do next?

Thank for asking to HCM
Your concern and query is appreciated, certain conditions are there as long as the hiccup and discomfort in esophagus is concern, first is it could be due to hyperacidity (GERD) Gastroesophagus reflux disease, second it may be due to hiatus hernia.
If I would be doctor of this case then I would give try with Omeprazole 40mg with Domperidone 20 mg once in day, antacid that contains the local anesthetic agent.
I would advise to stop heavy meal, spicy food, greasy food, it is advisable to divide the meal in two or three parts.
hope this information helps.
