What Causes Persistent Throbbing Pain Between The Knee And Foot?

In the past 2-3 days, I have developed throbbing pain that feels like it is in my tibia (center) between my knee and foot. It is mostly confined to this area, but at times is in the knee area. Nothing in particular seems to initiate or relieve the pain and it is intermittent, but can last for hours. Should I give it a few more days before having it checked? No additional symptoms are present.
