Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 11 daughter who for the last couple of months is complaining of stomach pain in the center. Several nights a week it awakes her and she is either constipated or has diarrhea(mostly). I have removed the dairy from her diet but it doesnt seem to get better. In the morning she is so tired from getting up thru out the night to get to the bathroom. Please help. Is this a sign her cycle is approaching, I dont recall this type of stomach pain.
The given history of abdomen pain with diarrhea may not be due to the hormone changes but it seems to be the intestinal infection.
If I would be doctor of this case then I would try to treat this case with tablet Metronidazole twice in day, for five days with tab Dicyclomine with Paracetamol three times in day.
If the symptoms remain as it is, then it is advisable to go for investigation that included Ultrasonography and x-ray abdomen, beside the infection other pathology of intestine needs to be ruled out too.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
