What Causes Persistent Sore Throat Symptoms With Bleeding And Painful Teeth?

hello, i am a 20 year old female smoker who has been sick an unfortunate amount in my life. so i went to the walk in clinic yesterday with the idea that i have strep throat once again( i have had it multiple times and know the sypmtoms pretty well) they had taken a culture and informed me that it doesnt look like strep. they decided to give me an antibiotic anyway and send me on my merry way. anyway i decided to look into some common illness similar to strep and found that i might be developing the more serve form of gingivits, periodontitis. i have been have problems with my teeth for about 6 months now, bleeding, extremly uncomfortable, etc. since i dont have insureance ive just been trying to deal with at home but when i looked this morning there are two that have those little puss pockets in the back. anyway could these syphtoms (fever, headach, swollen right lymph node in neck, swollen tossiles) all have to do with this and not be strep ? will the antibiotics given help or should i go see a dentist ? thanks for your help! Hi Athena..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain bleeding gums with discomfort in a smoker are signs of active gum disease and even in Smoker's the symptoms of gum disease are less pronounced. Compared to the severity of infection. Inflammation therefore you should immediately consult a Periodontist and get evaluated..

First of all stop smoking completely and also you will be advised a deep scaling and Curettage followed by antibiotics like Metronidazole and gum.paint massage..

If needed a full mouth x ray can be advised to check for the condition of underlying alveolar bone so that bone loss due to infection can be checked..

Secondly fever, sore throat and swollen lymph nodes can be due to viral infection and not steep throat as Steep throat is bacterial infection..

Anyways continue taking antibiotics but along with it take Tylenol to relieve fever and pain..
Do warm saline gargle..
Suck throat lozenges..
Avoid spicy foods and drink plenty of warm fluids..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
