What Causes Persistent Pain On The Side Of Patella?

I think I may have a tear in the right knee of the meniscus. I have pin point pain, to the left of the patella, it s like a spear went through my knee - it has been 4-5 weeks and has not improved. I am a healthy, 118 lb female (at 49 years old). I ride my show horses and in my spare time, I buy, gut and rehab older homes. Hard work I am not opposed to. Is there anything besides rest, ice, elevation and ansids that I would garner from a visit to the Ortho injury clinic? Or am I on the right track just need to allow more time for my knee to heal?
