What Causes Persistent Pain Near The Navel?

Hi there, I have a pain near my belly button but e towards the right hand side lower abdomen. I have had the pain for 2 days straight now. Its only about a 4/10 pain wise. I am not vomiting, no loss of appetite, no constipation or other toilet problems. I am 19 years old. I did have surgery on my belly button when I was about 10 years old. I had a hernia. I also had a hernia bump when I was younger which was visible but since I have filled out as I have gotten older the bump is not visible. Could this be appendix? Could this be a hernia? It does hurt to push on the area of the pain. Its a sharp stabbing pain. Cannot stand straight without the tight pulling sharp sensation.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to the recurrent hernia.

I suggest doing an abdominal ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis.

If the diagnosis is confirmed, the treatment consists of surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
