I am 48 yr old male in decent shape and fairly active. I slipped on ice 12 days ago. I fell very hard on my right hip/buttock. I had a lot of pain that night and got very little sleep as I could not get comfortable in the bed. I also couldn t seem to get warm, despite turning the heat way up in the hotel room and I had pain walking around the room. The next day, I was limping, but took two naproxen in the morning and went skiing anyway. Once I got moving, I was fine and didn t really notice my hip all day. A couple days later, a huge bruise showed up on my height hip/buttock. Now, 12 days later, the whole area is still really sore and I have a dull soreness down my outer thigh to the knee. I feel like I have less mobility than I did in the days after the fall. The bruise is changing color to less black and blue and more yellowish, but it s still about the same size. Is it possible to have a fracture in the greater trochanter area and still have the ability to move and ski as I did?
