What Causes Persistent Flank Pain?

I ve been having flank pain for five days now and each day the pain gets worse, I haven t been to a doctor yet thinking that I may have pulled a muscle however, the pain area is centered where my kidney is and it s worrying me due to it being very tender whenever someone presses on it. I haven t done any heavy lifting and it is now becoming painful to walk, are there any suggestions as to what could be happening? Should I go to my doctor or wait it out a bit more?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to hcm,
Persistent pain could be because of many reasons like urinary tract infection, renal or uretric calculi, colitis etc. I advise you to take antispasmodics, if the pain doesn't subside then get ultrasound and urine examination done for confirming the diagnosis.

Thank you
