What Causes Persistent Ear Infection In A Thyroid Disorder Person?

I have hypothyroidism which is under control with medication. I was diagnosed with an external ear infection almost 8 wks ago and it will not heal. I have been on an oral antibiotic, 2 different types of antibiotic ear drops and steroids for the inflammation. I also have fluid in the same ear and constant ringing. I am also having dizzy spells. Could the hypothyroidism have anything to do with the ear not healing?

Yes it can be related with hypothyroidism if it leads to inflammation of thyroid condition known as subacute thyroiditis.The inflammation can involve face ,jae and ear,leads to persistent inflammation of ear.The thyroid gland start secreting more thyroid hormone leads to hyperthyroidism. Treatment of condition is pain killers,sometimes steroids and antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infection. Thyroid hormone can be self limiting.
