What Causes Persistent Dizziness?

Hello Doctor. My name is Lani. I am traveling 5,000 miles from home and experienced several dizzy spells yesterday. I recently had my vitals checked and all looked fine. The dizzy spells started last night (head spinning feeling) and just recently feeling lightheaded. I have another couple of days here before I head back to the U.S. I am doing lots of walking but am in very good shape: 57 year old female, 130 pounds. Thank you for your help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Transient hypoglycemia can lead dizziness. You can check sugar level for that. Second lack of sleep, dehydration, overwork etc are some other precipitating factor. If continuous dizziness present than inner ear infection also can be the possibility for which decongestant or steroid for short term can be prescribed. Upper respiratory tract infection also can lead dizziness. Take rest and after recovery you can travel to your home.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
