What Causes Persistent Diarrhoea While On Asacol For Lymphocytic Colitis?
Should I call my doctor? Diarrhea 1 week, moderate. Taking asacol (2/day) for past diagnosis of lymphocytic colitis. Now, I doubled up on the asacol for 3 days. Purchased Kaopectate and used that for 3 days. Still have diarrhea and no sign of a normal bowel moment. Diarrhea crept up on me, from soft black stools to blackish water. Never have had black stool before. Eating normally, no gas except when diarrhea calls me to the bathroom. Possible: we purchased 2 watermelons and they were stamped Mexico. I ate some of that two afternoons before the diarrhea began. Now how to get rid of it?

As per my clinical experience, the diarrhea management needs additional precautions apart from Asacol, as there sounds water melon induced bacterial infection of GIT. Following measures will help you:
- Taking more liquids in form of boiled water, lemon juice, coconut water, fresh butter milk
- Prefer bland, vegan diet
- Avoid all spices, non veg, junk food, dairy items
- Add drug basket list with prebiotics with lacto bacillus, probiotics with sachharomyosis bullardiae, antibiotics with Ciprofloxacin and Metronidazole content
