What Causes Persistent Diarrhea?

     Hi there
I am 49 and have had diarrhea on Saturday, Tuesday and again on Thursday of this week and then again this morning. I have not had any since but have pain around my waist at the back and in my waist area at the front ( but I do not feel really ill as if I have a bug ) just washed out from the diarrhea and am managing light housework. On the days in between the diarrhea I have been to the toilet normally. I would appreciate your opinion. I do eat raw rice (probably shouldn't and haven't had any for the last few days) and was wondering if this could contribute to it. I have not eaten since 6pm last night and am just drinking lemonade and water until tomorrow when I will eat lightly if I am back to normal. I will mention that I suffer very badly from fibromyalgia and when I have a bad attack this can upset my stomach but not usually for such a long period. I do have a wonderful doctor who has advised me to take fluids until tomorrow to flush the system and contact him if I need him but would appreciate your comments.
Thank you

Hello,

You may be suffering from gastroenteritis or food intolerance or infection or irritable bowel syndrome.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid oily, spicy food. Take a soft diet or drink plenty of liquids. Use oral rehydration by who solution.

Get stool for culture and sensitivity. use tablet Sporulac twice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
