What Causes Persistent Coughing And Headache?

Hi I work in a care home for the elderly residents. At the moment, we have a flu outbreak in our care home. Many residents fell in sick and some care staff are taking sick leave. Now I have a persistent coughing, mucus building up with blood streaks, headache, feeling tired, throwing up due to a phlegm, and body aching from time to time. What should I do? I have a GP appointment today, taking a sick leave, and been drinking a lot of water.

Hello,

Thank you for your question. Coughing and headache you have to make sure that its not serous headache. Your history and chief complaint productive cough, body pain, feeling tired, the differentiate flu / cold and allergies can be difficult because they have similar symptoms. The flu usually begins quickly. The first symptoms are a fever. the other common symptoms include body aches, chill, dizziness, headache, lack of energy, nausea and vomiting, extreme fatigue, chest discomfort and cough. The symptom is usually not a dry cough. most people also develop a sore throat and headache. Runny nose and sneezing are common. These symptoms (except cough) usually go away in 4 to 7 days. sometimes, the fever return. The cough and feeling tired may last weeks. Some people may not feel like eating.

Common cold symprtoms is most common upper respiratory tract infection. start rapidly throat irritaion and stuffiness in the nose, include sneezing, mild sore throat, fever, minor headache, muscle pain and coughing. Nasal discharge is usually clear and runny nose the first 1 to 3 days. it then thickens and becomes yellow to greenish.

Allergy symptom no fever, but coughing, headache , itchy nose, runny nose, sorethroat , itchy eye and tearing...

In the mean time before seeing your doctor drink a lot of water and rest. Your doctor may prescribe you medicine according to your symptom and sign.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
