What Causes Persistent Cough?

Hello sir, I have the persistent cough from quite sometime,today I used Montemac Al it has come down.Can you tell me why I am getting every now and then.Some time ago I used histac 500 Mg and arithromicin for cough it has come down and now reoccurring,I feel bit awkward at work place and I would request you to tell me exactly this kind of problem,although I visited the doctor they didn t tell any about it. Can you tell me something on this.

Understand your concern
Exact diagnosis should be done by doctor by examination and tests,
Following are the causes of your problem:
Tuberculosis
Smoking
Asthma
GERD
Post nasal drip/sinusitis
Chronic bronchitis/Broncheactsis
COPD, Cystic fibrosis, lung cancer

Following tests should be done:
Blood: CBC, ESR, CRP
Specific allergic test: RAST
Broncho scopy
Chest Xray
Pulmonary function tests
Till you get following dvice:
Stay Hydrated
Try Lozenges and Hot Drinks
Gargling with warm salted water or betadine
You can also use honey and ginger for soothing effects
Take Steamy Showers, and Use a Humidifier
Remove Irritants From the Air
Drugs:
- Decongestants:Tablet Diaminic DA twice daily for three to for days
- Cough suppressants and expectorants: dextromethorphan,guaifenesin syrup
- Take Deriphyllin Retard
- Tablet levofloxacin for 7 days to clear infections
