What Causes Persistent Cough And Chest Infection In A Toddler?

My 3.5 year son , have persistent cough for last 2 months, doctors 1st gave levolin and allergy syrup, had stopped both medicine after few days, But coughing persisted again, was trying some home medicine, but cough further worsen , took to doctor which was told he got some chest infection with fever, gave dexofen, told levolin to continue and also allergy medicine for 7 days. but again got fever on 5th day, took to doctor he said its viral, and all chest infection got cleared, told to continue levolin if cough occurs , and also allergy syrup for 1 month. but from yesterday again he got running nose & cough, from today again started levolin. Please suggest

Understanding your concern. As per your query your toddler have symptoms of persistent cough and chest infection which is due to chronic lung infection or bronchitis. Condition like asthma and seasonal allergy could also be possible. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit pulmonologist once and get it examined. You should go for pulmonary function tests and x-ray chest as well to check exact level of infection. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory , Start treatment only after proper prescription. Drink plenty of water. Take hot milk rich in turmeric as it will boost immunity. You need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drug. You should use mist humidifiers in room. Doctor may also refer you to allergy specialist in asthma type condition .
