What Causes Persistent Cough Along With Fainting?

My husband went to the dr yesterday d/t a persistent cough. After he returned home with his inhaler, cough medicine with codeine, and steroid meds, he started coughing and has began passing out because he can t get a breath. He has only been on the meds for about a day, but the passing out concerns me and he is also exhibit get signs of a slight seizure at the end of the fainting spell. Then he seems to come out of it. He doesn t want me to contact the dr, as he just went there yesterday. Don t know what to do as it is scary to me.

Falling over unconscious is pretty much always a reason to go to the doctor.
Passing from not being able to breath is definitely a reason to go to the emergency room and indicates quite possibly a life-threatening condition. It might not be though. Cough can trigger a change in the heart rhythm (VASO-VAGAL response) that causes a temporary loss of blood pressure and unconsciousness.
