What Causes Persistent Bleeding Post Intercourse While On Mirena?
Hi. I have had mirena in for about a year now and sometimes I will get bleeding here and there but it will usually stop. Me and my bf had intercourse last night and now I m bleeding bright red. When I use the toilet this morning a big clot of blood came out amd i have been bleeding ever since. Also it has been a week since me and my bf had intercourse.

Pregnancy is a common cause. Polyps or fibroids (small and large growths) in the uterus can also cause bleeding. Rarely, a thyroid problem, infection of the cervix, or cancer of the uterus can cause abnormal uterine bleeding. In most women, abnormal uterine bleeding is caused by a hormone imbalance.
