What Causes Persistent Abdominal Pain And Cramps?

it started w my son about a month ago. Severe mid-abdominal cramping especially in the evening, for approx. 4 days in a row. Next, my daughter, severe abdominal cramping and constipation. After, my other son, symptoms of Fifth s Disease (congestion, rosey cheeks, weezing in chest, diarreah). Next, me- Severe Abdominal cramping- almost like Labor pains (Braxton Hicks like- centralized around navel outwards surrounding central belly), diarreah for 3 days followed by 2 additional days of horrible headaches. Husband got it and threw up all day, SEVERE stomach cramping followed by headaches, and my other daughter just had it... 4 days of Severe stomach cramping (the kind that make you keal over whincing in pain- Contraction like) Put her in tub and heat induced rash all over arms and legs. Fifths? Question is: What is causing the severe abdominal pains and cramping and why lasting so long? Please Help! This has been circulating our home the last Month and going through each family member (all 6 of us).

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Persistent abdominal cramps may be due to gastritis. Need to follow some tips:

1. Do not eat spicy food.
2. Take medicines for gastritis- Pantop/Omez/Rantac.
3. Take little food at frequent intervals. Breakfast around 8 a.m., small snack at 11 a.m., lunch at 1 p.m., small snack at 4 p.m. and dinner at 8 p.m.
4. Drink plenty of water.
5. Do not smoke, take alcohol or tobacco and even excess of coffee and tea.
6. Do not take much of stress. Stress aggravates gastritis.
7. Do regular exercise. Atleast half an hour per day.
8. Learn meditation techniques.
9. Follow this regularly for 21 days. It is said that anything you practice regularly for 21 days, it becomes a habit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sanjay Kini
