What Causes Periodic Chills In Arms And Fever After Taking Vyvanse?

I started taking 30 mg of Vyvance 5 weeks ago. Earlier this week I started having periodic chills in my arms. Today I had true shivers. My temperature was 96, then went up to 102. I also am very tired and have muscle aches. Am I sick or is this a Vyvance side effect?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Fever is a known side effect of Vyvanse, but it is not very common. In your case, with the muscle aches, chills, and fever, I would suspect that you have an acute illness.

From the sound of it, I would suspect influenza or some other viral illness. If you develop severe muscle pain, prolonged fever for more than a few days, or other severe symptoms such as severe nausea and vomiting, are unable to keep down any food or liquids, or for any disorientation or altered mental status, I would seek medical attention.

Otherwise, I think you can wait to see how the illness progresses and hopefully, after a few days, you'll be feeling better.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
