What Causes Patches Like Tinea Versicolor On Upper Lip?

My ten year old daughter seems to have what looks like tinea versicolor or mask of pregnancy around her lips but not on lips. I read that it is fungal. Is there any non-medicinal way to treat this? No pain or bump or rash involved. I simultaneously have the worse case of hard and chapped lips only on my upper lip. I ve never had this before and have not been in harsh weather. Could the fungal be affecting me, too?

Understanding your concern. Thanks for your query. As per your query you have symptoms of patches like tinea versicolor on upper lip which is pointing towards a condition known as chapped lips or it is due to fungal infection known as Tinea faciei/ fungal infection .There can be many reasons for chapped lips like frequent licking ,picking ,extreme dry weather and excessive sun exposure.I would suggest you to spot picking or licking of lips,use lip moisturizer with SPF 15 to prevent from sun exposure,take supplement containing vitamin B6 which will be extremely helpful in this condition,try to avoid dry environment and apply tretinoin ointment at night. If condition persists for more the 10 days consult dermatologist for proper examination to rule out other condition like any inflammatory disease. Apply topical antifungal agents on it mainly steroids. Keep your body hydrated.
