Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Had lower stomach problems for over 10 years. Thought it was IBS and lived with it. Had gallbladder removed and diagnosed with polycythemia Vera. A few months ago I noticed stool coming out of my vagina after a BM. Happens a few times a week. Is it a fistula and could I have crohns?
If it is frank fecal matter that is coming out of your vagina, then you could have a rectovaginal fistula, which is an abnormal communication between your rectum and vagina. It can cause secondary infection and the treatment is surgical. And yes Crohn's disease is a cause of fistulas. You should get it checked out by a surgeon as soon as possible. Good day and take care.
