What Causes Panic Attack And Heart Palpitations While On Local Anesthesia?

I had 2 of my wisdom teeth extracted before i got them extracteda lady who was the helper of the man who was going to extract my teeth put on local anesthetic.but i startes to feel very weird and had like a mini panick attack and told the nurse to take it off cuz my heart was racing pretty fast.So after the extraction i started getting heart palpitations i thought they would go away as the day went on but its been more than 10 hrs since they got extracted (had them remove at 11:10A.M)so could it be that one of the sides where i got it extracted has gotten a infection or is it a reaction my body is getting due too getting local anesthetic and having a bad reaction too it.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain panic attack or heart racing fast or palpitations can occur due to anxiety after a dental anaesthesia but at times it can be a side effect of adrenaline as it can cause adrenaline rush and cause constriction of blood vessels..
In case if local anaesthetic is accidentally injected into a blood vessel it can reach heart and can cause palpitations..
It is mostly resolved after a few minutes to a few hours and as it is already 12 hours you can just observe for a few hours and if symptoms worsen immediately consult an Emergency Room and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps.

Thanks and regards.
