What Causes Painless Swelling Under The Eyes And At The Nasal Bridge?

I have swelling and slight tenderness at the bridge of nose. Started about 4 days ago. No injury was inflected to the nose in recent time. This morning, swelling included a small pouch of swelling under right eye. No pain unless I physically massage area. Nasal passage appears free and open - no discharge, no trouble breathing. Doctor says its a skin infection (no discoloration, rash, bumps, etc on surface of skin - just swelling) and proscribed Cephalexin - 500mg 4 times daily for a week. Any thoughts? Do you agree? How does this type of infection start?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Such swelling can be due to stress to eyes (excessive use, lack of sleep, crying, infection of lower eye. lid/eyelashes early stage. (sty) light fomentation with warm water, OTC pain pill like ibuprofen would help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
