What Causes Paining And Dark Gums Around One Tooth?
This morning I noticed the gums immediately around one tooth, lower, is very dark, deep red. This tooth has a crown on it. This was noticed when I was flossing today. It is uncomfortable around this tooth, more of an ache actually. I can't afford dental care right now though.

The crown has an open contact. When you eat food it slides down between that tooth and the one next to it causing pressure on the gum. Also the area called the margin where the crown seals the tooth at the gumline is overbulked causing gum swelling. Due to this inflammation the gum is receding away from the crown and the black line is the metal that is under the porcelain. The crown needs to be redone. You can get an all porcelain crown that is more cosmetic and has no metal underneath. Be sure to choose your dentist wisely.

hello thanks for consulting at hcm..
The inflammed red gums is caused by inflammation of the gum surrounding the crown,,you might need oral prophylaxis -scaling and polishing,, if calculus/tartar has deposited..
you also need to do gum massage with the pulp of the finger..
Use chlorhexidine mouth wash if you are not allergic to it..
You could also get an iopa radiograph to check for alveolar bone loss around it..
Kindly consult a periodontist for a check up and treatment if problem persists..
