What Causes Painfully Swollen Ear?
Ear is swollen inside and out. Extreme pain and hot to the touch. The back of the ear is so swollen the ear is sticking straight out. Doctor was seen on June 6th and gave ear drops. Another visit to the Doctor and they looked at it but could not see into the ear because the ear canal is swollen shut. Puss is now draining out of the ear. Doctor did not give antibiotics but referred patient to an ENT. I m concerned infection can spread since this condition has been going on since June 6th. Is this possible and should someone be seen immediately if the ENT cannot get the patient in right away?

it is called csom,chronic middle ear infection.the treatment is antibiotics and analgesics and in chronic cases surgery is needed.
