What Causes Painful Urination?

I was holding my pee for longer than I wanted. When I finally got a chance to go. It was very painful and not a steady flow. Now I am in pain and can t go. I had laser prostate surgery 4 yrs. ago because I stopped urinating and had to keep going to get my bladder emptied. After surgery I couldn t urinate on my own. I was on a catheter for 16 weeks. I started catherizing myself every time I needed to go. Finally I started urinating on my own. I am in much pain like my bladder is full. I cathetized myself and when I emptied out it was start and stop flow. Did not feel like I emptied out. Pain is bad and I can t urinate.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult a physician and rule out conditions like urinary tract infection. You have to get an ultrasound scan to look for conditions like stones or calculi in the urinary system.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
