What causes painful swelling in front of ear?

Swollen area in front of my ear is painful to the touch . tender spot running in a line up the side of my head to a knot on top of my head that is tender as well almost like a giant pimple and a small bean size knot behind my ear , that one doesn t hurt at all

I really appreciate your concern, it could be lymph node and it must be due to infection if it is painful and it can be well managed with "Tab Ibuprofen 400 mg" three times in day and "Tab Amoxicillin 500 mg" three times in day, some time it may not be infection and if this so then antibiotic may not be given for confirmation of this clinical examination may needed, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
