Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a painful sore nose inside the nostrils at the front - second occurrence in two weeks - takes about a week to build up and then subside. Throbs if the covers get on my face at night. Is it something I am eating? My age is 80 but in good health otherwise except on medication for afib. Charles W. Huntley
I understand your concern and by what you say I feel that you are getting recurrent infection with MRSA or methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus.
I feel that you will require a nasal swab for culture and sensitivity and if it is growing MRSA then we need to consider giving Mupirocin ointment thrice a day for a period of five days so that we need to eradicate the organism.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Sumanth Amperayani, Pediatrician, Pulmonology
