General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

It does sound like it could be fungal and with your mild response to it, may be it is fungal and you need to try another cream (e.g. ketoconazole, miconazole, etc.). Along with this, you can also take oral anti-fungal medications. But make sure you also get it examined by a doctor for a possible bacterial infection (e.g. folliculitis) and also initiate the required antibiotics just to make sure we are looking at it from all aspects.

Best wishes.
