What Causes Painful Lump On Jaw At The Sight Of Bone Grafting?

I had dental implant surgery a week ago, including bone grafting. The swelling is mostly down but now I have a painful lump on my jaw near the implant site. Should I be concerned ? I have a follow up appointment with the oral surgeon in a week but am wondering if I should contact him sooner in case something is wrong.-Alyssa

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

You need not to worry as there is no pain at the site of implant placement and the swelling is only due to inflammation that occur commonly after any surgical procedure due to soft tissue injury..
You can simply relax as there is nothing serious and the swelling will resolve gradually in a few days..
You can do cold compresses over the swelling for faster resolution..
You can also take Ibuprofen 400 mg twice daily for 5 days as it has anti-inflammatory action along with being a painkiller..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
