What Causes Painful Knots Under Arm?

two days ago I felt a knot under my arm. it was a little painful when touched. I thought is was an ingrown hair. it is still there and now I see anothert knot just below the first one.I feel fine otherwise. I am 49 yeara old and had a mammogram in Nov with no findings. Should I be concerned? Any treatment to administer at home? Thanks for any input. Mz I have no means of payment

The possible diagnosis of the condition is folliculitis which is an infection of the hair follicle.It can be treated with topical antibacterial creams like mupirocin.You must avoid pricking or fiddling with them. A short course of oral antibiotic like azithromycin might also be used after consulting your doctor.Regards
