Hi, I am very embarrassed to be asking this. But I have been experiencing pain during sex. I am 23 years old and ever since 18 years old, sex has given me pain. I have trouble having the penis enter, and nothing seems to feel good at all. The only position I can get it in is sitting on top, but it still hurts. Please give me a reason as to why I am experiencing this and what it may be..thank you.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for asking. I understand your concern. Your history suggests pesence of tough fold of hymen... not being perforated because of it's toughness...(inspite of having sex) Such patients need surgical removal of the remaining hymen &have a completely opened hymen (the usually thin fold of tissue closing vaginal passage in virgins)to allow easy asess to vagina while having sex. Please consult a gynecologist. Thanks.
