What Causes Painful Inflammation In Pubic Region?

I have a hard bump in the bikini area about 1/4 - 1/2 across depending on how inflammed it is under the skin. I get brazilian waxes and have only gotten this since moving and using someone else who uses a different wax product. That was a couple of years ago. I don t know if that is related in any way. I am assuming it is a cyst but I don t know how to treat it, as sometimes it gets very small. When inflamed it is pretty painful. I don t see any ingrown hair on the surface.

Hello,

Painful inflammation in the pubic area is commonly caused by some waxing ingredients that are allergic to the sensitive skin of the vulva. Skin of the bikini area is thin and should be properly moisturized after hair removal. Always wear soft cotton undies and clothes.

Presently, there is no ingrown hair on the surface. The inflamed area is painful. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynecologist. It can be a cyst, abscess, Bartholin's cyst or carbuncle, etc. Cysts are removed surgically by minor operation and if required they can be drained, stitched and antiseptic dressing done.

You should take a course of antibiotic like Augmentin. Take naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS to get rid of pain and discomfort. Take care of your hygiene, stay away from any kind of sexual activity or self pleasure for a couple of days while you will be treated. You should get STD tests done to stay on the safer side. If reports come positive you will be treated with antibiotics and antivirals.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
