Neurologist, Surgical 's  Response
Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. The headache occurring because of watching TV could be due to

: Eye disease - Eye disease like Glaucoma, refractive error can give rise to pain after exposure to bright light. It needs evaluation by ophthalmologist. At home, you should avoid bright light exposure, avoid reading in dim light or small letters or reading without glasses (if you are already using it).

The doctor will examine your vision and eye. He may get some tests of eye like tonometry, visual activity for evaluation. Further management will depend upon diagnosis. Glaucoma is treated by medication and sometimes surgery like iridectomy to reduce eye pressure. Refractive error is treated by glasses only.

: Tension headache - It is one of the most common type of headache. It occurs because of spasm of eye muscle, mental and physical stress. It is dull type headache, heaviness, occurs for long duration, increases on stress/bright light/excessive focusing on something, associated with band like sensation around forehead.

It is treated by

; avoiding bright light, mental and physical strain
; daily sleep for 8 hours at least
; avoid late night TV, laptop working
; bed rest
; For pain, you can take painkiller like Paracetamol after consulting with paediatrician (if you are a lactating mother)
; You can get head and neck massage

If still no relief, you can consult doctor.

Hope it will help you. Thanks.

Take care.
