What Causes Painful Calf?

Yes,, thank you. I have had a pain in my right calf all day long. It s annoying and is no better if I elevate my leg or if I am sitting or standing. My calfs both measure about the same, they are both the same to the touch (* one is not hotter than the other). What can be my problem?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Patient,

even though you are not describing a difference in size or a sensitivity to touch i reccomend you to be on the safe side and have a thrombosis ruled out first via vein-ultrasound (duplex), wherever this can be done in your area in the fastest way (probably clinic/ ER).
If that is out of the way, it could be a torn muskle, which can easily be treated by cooling and resting and taking antiinflammatory medicine like ibuprofen (after checking with your md).
I find this answer helpful
