What Causes Painful Blisters On The Skin After Visiting The Beach?

I was climbing up sand at the beach and a series of blisters gave rise to what appeared as a large scrape injury; rather deep. I have left it uncovered and clean the area several times a day. the area tends to weep and sting. There are no serious other signs of infection. It has been a few weeks. I am 63. My skin tends to be dry: California. There seems to be improvement, but, how long can this take to heal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Excessive exposure to sunlight causes sunburn. Sunburns are caused by UV radiation rather than heat. Sunburns destroy skin, which controls the amount of heat our bodies retain or release. Anyone who visits a beach, goes fishing, works in the yard, or simply is out in the sun can get sunburned. Sometimes it causes skin blisters also.
Advice
Advice
1.     Ibuprofen 600 mg thrice daily per oral after meal for 5 days
2.     Apply Spectraban sensitive sunscreen before going to sunlight. You can also use sunscreens which are used for cosmetic purpose preferably with Sun Protection Factor (SPF) more than 30
3.     Apply ice pack 3 – 4 times daily
4.     Apply Elovera cream locally three times daily for soothing effect
5.     Try to avoid exposure to sunlight
6.     Drink 3 – 4 liters of water daily
7.     Fully cover your skin with cloth whilst in sunlight
Thanks
