What Causes Pain On The Top Of Head And Ear?

Two weeks ago, I hit the top of my head on the left side. In addition, last week I fell backwards outside of my home on the ground. I did not have any real pain from the first incident but now the top of my head is sore and I have pain in my left ear. Could the second incident (the fall) have anything to do with the head and ear problem? Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello. The falls may cause some internal injuries but the effects would have been apparent by now. Your symptoms do not suggest any internal injuries, rather superficial injuries which will heal in due time. If you do have trouble in hearing or a ringing sensation in the ear or dizziness and vomiting, you may have to get a CT scan of the head done as well as further evaluation. Hope this helps.

Dr Geeta
