What Causes Pain, Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Shoulder And Elbow?

Hi. I am having left shoulder and elbow pain accompanied with periodic numbness and tingling. Pain is worse with activity where I reach forward like to wash hands at sink and especially while arm is extended when walking. Had DaVinci robot radical hysterectomy a year ago for cancer. Have lymphedema in the pelvic region and ankles. I was treated with chemo, external and internal radiation. Finished all treatments in January. April PET scan was clear. Not sure if my cancer is relative, but have heard that some people experience neuropathy. Aspirin helps a little. Not aware of injuring my shoulder or elbow. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello,

Usually this is self limiting and there is no specific cause but if this persist then various causes for arm numbness may persist like dehydration, diabetes, hypothyroidism, menopause, lack of B complex vitamins. You may also have nerve compression problems which was suspected in your prior consultations which must have aggravated, however at what level it varies and needs clinical evaluation, with nerve conduction studies with or without MRI. It is very common to get such types of numbness and pain in stress and in deep anxiety state, however to be on safe side,you should consult a doctor and get your cardiac status checked along with other relevant investigations for the causes as mentioned above.
