What Causes Pain In Xiphoid Process Area?

My name is Brooke I m 30 5 5 130lbs. I have smoke for 10 years and for the past month and half have had some pain which seems to be my xiphoid process area. It all started after my allergies had flared up causing drainage and a cough. All symptoms lasted about a week before allergy medicine worked and since then the tight pain has slowly gotten constant and hurts when I take a deep breath. Any suggestions on what could be going on.

Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health but inflammation of the lung is really common with smoking marijuana (most common with smoking tobacco!) or with mild cold.
If drainage isn't clear can be an infection. Otherwise, inflammation, with some (MILD) asthma-like occaisional wheeze and some (MILD) pain is pretty common. Asthma medicines often really help it very fast, and it subsides in 2-3 weeks (if not smoking).
