Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In Upper Abdomen And Dark Vomit After Umbilical Hernia Repair?
I have a repaired umbilical hernia which has recurred. It does cause me pain at times but last night it was cramping, stabbing, pain in my upper abdomen....intermittent. It went on most of the night and then I vomited black fluid 3 times. That has never happened before. It seems to have resolved today although I am vaguely nauseated.
Hi and thank you for asking! I read your query and understood your concerns.
After reading all your complaints, I think that you symptoms may be caused by complication of gastric hernia. Bowel obstruction is one of the major complication of gastric hernias and are associated with pain, vomiting, abdominal discomfort etc.
So this is a medical emergency, and you need to go immediately to ER to run some examinations to exclude any life threatening condition.
If you were my patient I would recommend doing the following examinations to find out what is causing your symptoms: - Blood work - Abdominal x-ray - Abdominal ultrasound - ECG - Chest x-ray
Hope this will be of help! Wish you health! Dr. Dautaj P.s: If you are satisfied with my answer, please rate it to maximum and vote it helpful.
