Hello,

Pain in urethra and blood during urination could be suggestive of acute urethritis or bladder infection (cystitis is more common in women) but must be confirmed by appropriate tests.

However, your symptoms have improved today, so you should take plenty of fluids (water and fruit juices) orally with over the counter pain killers for symptomatic relief.

Or if your symptoms re-appears with pain or blood in the urine or burning urination then it should be further investigated by routine blood counts, urine analysis and urine culture to make sure that if you have any urinary infection or not.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

General Surgeon Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein's  Response
Hello,

Pain in the urethra can be associated with infections, prostatitis as well as renal stone. It is good that infections are ruled out with tests.

Considering your age, I would suggest you get an ultrasound of KUB (kidney and urinary bladder) region done.

This will help in ruling out renal stone and prostatitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
