What Causes Pain In The Thumb Joint?

I had CT surgery on both hands about 6 months ago. I had some trigger thumb right after in the dominant hand but now have in other thumb. The joint where the thumbs join the palm have a hard ridge now and are getting more painful. Opening a jar is quite uncomfortable at these ridges. I m a 68 year old female and do have spots of arthritis.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to arthritis rheumatoid.

I suggest using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen to relieve the pain.

I also suggest using ice compresses to help with the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
