What Causes Pain In The Throat And Upper Chest While Swallowing?

Hi I am a 28 year old male who smokes occasionally..I have never had any symptoms or allergic to anything.I have had this problem for a couple of days with swallowing. I noticed this pain in my throat when I swallowed and I could kind of feel it in the upper part of my chest.the lower right side of my throat felt really sore almost like I could feel the muscles tightening around it whenever I inhale, and I can sort of feel that pain on the right side of my upper chest, but hardly. Sometimes when I am just breathing it feels like something is choking me, and I get this pain in my right ear.Can you help me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You symptoms seem to be related to gastroesofageal reflux. I recommend using antacids such as Maloox to relieve the pain temporary. I also recommend using PPI medication to low the level of acidity in the stomach such as Prilosec.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
